BAEAS is an emerging interdisciplinary network bringing together researchers working on the histories, cultures, literatures and societies of early America. Building on the British Group in Early American History, we offer a welcoming forum for collaboration and community among researchers based in Britain and beyond.
We welcome scholars working across disciplinary, geographical, and chronological boundaries, including those whose research explores Indigenous America, Colonial and Revolutionary North America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic World. Our understanding of early America is informed by the concept of Vast Early America, recognising the interconnected histories of the Americas and their place in a wider global context.
BAEAS is particularly committed to bringing together established scholars, early career researchers, and postgraduate students, while also developing connections with the international early American studies community.
